Realities of a Mission (download)

Here is a great way to start thinking about the realities of mission life. This asks you some questions and outlines what will really happen on a mission, what you will get from doing it, and how you can prepare now. Credit goes to the Alpine Stake for making this!

Mission Prep Notes (29 Jan)

Wednesday, January 30, 2013 0 Comments

Hey y'all! (I can say that because I'm in Virginia.)

I've been attending mission prep as an institute class for the past few weeks and I've already learned so much. As I was taking notes yesterday I was thinking that maybe I could post some of the highlights from class here on the ol' blog. If they're helpful, let me know and I'll keep posting them!

One Time I Went Tracting

Monday, January 28, 2013 0 Comments

This past Christmas break was when I decided that it was time to start getting my butt into gear about going on a mission. The sister missionaries for our mission have recently moved into our ward boundaries, so within a dinner appointment or two I already had agreed to go on splits with them (they were in group of three at the time).

What an interesting thing that was.

For Your Information

Monday, January 28, 2013 0 Comments

Before you do anything, you should get pep talked by Kid President. (it's over there >)

Second, you should check out all of the pages. (they're up there^) There's a section all about me, including my Mormon.org profile and some of my Top 10 lists. There's my testimony, which is a pretty brief but encompassing statement of what I believe. There's a page with all of the ways you can contact me, not including messenger pigeon and Pony Express. The archive is a list of all the posts on this blog, organized by date.

Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence

Sunday, January 27, 2013 , 1 Comments

It's important to me that I tell you straight up: half of the time, I'm not so sure I even want to go on a mission. I'm 21, which was fine until October, when they changed the age for sisters to 19, and now it feels like I'm already behind in the game.

You see, I graduate from college in three months. Three months exactly. And after that I'm officially a grown up. I have to start thinking about weird adult things like finding a job and going to grad school and maybe even getting married (...let's hold off on that one). I'm terrified of that.

But I'm more terrified of going on a mission, most of the time.

One Year, Six Months, Forever

Sunday, January 27, 2013 , 0 Comments

When I was coming up a title for this blog, all I wanted was "One Year, Six Months," but it was taken by some person who hasn't posted since 2004.

I was bugged, and kept trying to think of what I could add to it so that I could make it work. "Sister One Year, Six Months"? No. "One Year and Six Months"? Taken.

I don't know when it hit me that I could do forever. Maybe "eternity" would have been the better Mormon word to use, but I like forever. I like the ring of it. Forever. For everything. For always.

How appropriate it is that I couldn't start this blog without the eternal in mind.

What's a Mormon Mission, Anyway?

Sunday, January 27, 2013 0 Comments

Hey, I'm Dain.

So, you're probably wondering what this is all about. If you're Mormon, you might have a good idea, but if you're not, that's okay. I'll explain.

I'm a Mormon. Let's get that out there. I'm a Mormon girl who really has a hankering to go on a mission.
