I have a few things to talk about.

1. I report to the MTC in 1 week.
2. I am terrified.
3.  I have no idea what I'm doing.

Yet, despite all of that, here I am, in my room, not having packed a single bit, refusing to look at PMG too hard. Instead of packing or studying or doing anything mission prep-ish, I decided to watch Sherlock.

A lot of Sherlock.

And can I just tell you that Benedict Cumberbatch is not getting me in the mood to lock down my heart for the next eighteen months?

But that's neither here nor there.

Mission Prep: Teaching with the Missionaries

Guest post by Sister Meaghan Nisse, blogger at >Missionary Meggie<. She has been called to serve in the West Virginia Charleston Mission.

So, I am kinda having a mini fangirl moment right now, seeing as how I adore Dain's blog, One Year Six Months Forever.

AND NOW I'M GUEST POSTING ON HERE.

AHEM. I mean, uh, this is cool. I guess.

Haha, okay I'm done with my lame jokes. Let's get down to business. (Before the Huns arrive.)

Dain gave me free reign to write about whatever I wanted that falls under the umbrella of mission prep. So, I decided to write about what I believe has been the best preparation for me before I head out to the distant and foreign land that the natives call 'West Virginia'.

Let's start at the beginning of my grand tale.

Guest Post on The Hipster RM

Have you met Emmilie? Have you read her precious words of wisdom at her blog The Hipster RM? If not, you have no idea what you're missing.

Emmilie, aka The Hipster RM, is a girl who's been home from her mission to Billings, Montana for a little while now, and she decided to make a blog to share her experiences and advice. It's really just inspiring for me, a preparing sister missionary, with every new post I read.

Well, I've been lucky enough to talk to Emmilie for a little while and finagle my way into a guest blog post on the illustrious The Hipster RM. It's about mission preparation (when aren't I talking about mission prep?) and if you want to read it, you can head >>this way<<.

SVU Students on Preparing for Missions

Since last semester I've been carrying out an internship with my university's Office of Communications and Marketing. I'm a news writer, which basically means that I write articles for the university website and for the school's blog. I've really grown to love it, and it's helped me to develop a different set of writing skills that might become really useful later.

The reason that I'm telling you this is because I've been working on an article that covers a topic I feel very passionately about, and it's finally been posted on the website! There's also an accompanying video which you should watch, even if you don't read my article.

"A Word for the Hesitant Missionary"

President Uchtdorf wrote something awesome (and relevant to us!) for this month's First Presidency message. The message, titled "A Word for the Hesistant Missionary," outlines things that every member can do in order to follow the Lord's commission to bring the gospel to others.

Really, what I think he outlines is four traits that we can start working on now that will become indispensable to us as missionaries later. Along the same lines is another article on lds.org written by a then-missionary about traits he wished he had picked up before he left. It's titled "Dear Future Missionaries."

Mission Prep Notes (5 Feb)

Yesterday in Mission Prep we had a cool opportunity to watch the Elders at work. We had two class members act as investigators and the Elders taught them the first discussion while we took notes. It's one of those things where you really had to be there in order to get something out of it, but I'll share my notes anyway.

Mission Prep Notes (29 Jan)

Hey y'all! (I can say that because I'm in Virginia.)

I've been attending mission prep as an institute class for the past few weeks and I've already learned so much. As I was taking notes yesterday I was thinking that maybe I could post some of the highlights from class here on the ol' blog. If they're helpful, let me know and I'll keep posting them!
